Don't get me wrong. I love my English Literature courses. This year alone, I studied everything from the Beat Generation to the Romantics. A little Ginsberg here, a little Wordsworth there; I certainly covered an impressive range. However, ploughing through the Norton Anthology of Poetry, doesn't leave much time for pleasure reading.
Summer for me, means reading books, without a critical reading essay looming.
It also means I can include a few frothy beach reads in my mix.
So, the beginning of my list is below. Its a random collection of A) books someone told me I must read B) Books I have always said I would read and C) Books that are popular at the store. I need some serious help expanding this list. What books are on your list for the summer? What books would you say everyone in the world MUST read? Comment Below! I am not picky! Everything from Roald Dahl to Jane Austen to Tom Wolfe is fair game.
Summer Reads!
The Pale Blue Eye by Louis Bayard
Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
